This article was NOT written far away, from an armchair, but based on our own reporting from the Roma settlement in Tatárszentgyörgy itself and other research. We did not use "propaganda mateial". All people mentioned in the story have talked personally to BosNewsLife, which is based in Hungary. I am sure some Roma, as other Hungarians, are involved in wrongdoing, including the alleged Roma crimes you mentioned. But the issue of this particular story was a clear trend of attacks against the Roma minority in Hungary. There are different opinions on how to integrate Roma in Hungarian society after years of neglect, and there is concern over extremism. That's all I wanted to show with this piece. Why are you not saying a word about attacks committed by Romas? Three examples: - Olaszliszka 2006 October. A reputable schoolteacher was lynched to death by a mob of Romas. The attack was racially motivated as one of the participants (one of the killers' mother) screamed this words: "Kill the Hungarian". - Kiskunlachaza 2008 fall: A 14 year old girl was brutally raped and murdered after walking home from a school event. No killers were found yet. However, witnesses have seen a black Audi (favorite brand used by Roma mobsters in Hungary) circling around the building where the event was held. - Veszprem early 2009: Famous Romanian sportsman (handball star) Marian Kozma was stabbed to death by Roma mobsters in a local bar where the handball players peacefully celebrated one of their team-mates birthday. - A village in Northeast Hungary 2005. An 89 year old woman was tortured and raped by 2 Romas because she did not want to give them her valuables. I can cite countless examples in from the last 4 years. The point is: murder, rape, robbery are crimes that need to be prosecuted and the guilty parties punished whether they are Roma or Hungarian. And the news media need to report these crimes fairly from both sides and they need to stop the fear-mongering. One more thing to add. Why are you not saying a word about attacks committed by Romas? I also highly recommend the writer of this article to move to a heavily Roma populated area in Hungary to experience first hand what is happening there instead of writing from a comfortable armchair somewhere far away from the 'hot spots'.
