The 'upper room' of GOD TV's broadcasting center in Jerusalem has been reserved for prayer requests from viewers around the world, said the network's founders Rory and Wendy Alec. A huge wall has been decorated with pictures of viewers, send via e-mail or the regular mail. "This is a strategic time to visit Israel, as Jews and Christians recognize the 60th anniversary of the rebirth of Israel as a modern day nation, reminding us of God’s faithfulness to His promises," the Alec's said.
GOD TV said it had chartered several flights and booked over 3,000 hotel beds in Israel for the arrival of Christians from around the world. The Jerusalem event was just one of prayer rallies in over 200 countries, GDOP organizers said. They include countries where Christians reportedly face persecution for their faith in Christ, BosNewsLife established. RECEIVING "VISION" The GDOP project began in July 2000 when South African Christian businessman Graham Power said God gave him "a vision" that included to "call Christians from all denominations in Cape Town for a 'Day of Repentance and Prayer at Newlands Rugby Stadium.' In March 2001 some 45 000 Christians gathered for that Day, an event that soon spread to other parts of Africa and the world. Last year Christians from 204 nations participated, and this year more believers were expected to participate. Ahead of the GDOP Christians were also involved 10 days of day and night prayer and what organizers described as "90 Days of blessing where prayer is expressed in acts of mercy and kindness in local communities."
