An unidentified, bearded suicide bomber wearing Shalwar Qameez (Pakistani National Dress) in his thirties, who was riding a motor bike, blew himself up in front of a mosque near a traffic signal at Dubai Chowk (Dubai Square) Allama Iqbal Town here late Wednesday August 13.

Two deceased policemen were identified as Arif and Jaffar Baloch. Among the 20 seriously injured included an unidentified child, BosNewsLife learned.

Police and several other law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the blast site. Witnesses told BosNewsLife that the suicide bomber targeted a police vehicle. Police sources claim to recover the left leg, hand and chest of the suicide bomber to identify him.

The blast impact was so forceful that it shattered the glass panes of the windows of the mosque and nearby residential and several other buildings. Earlier this week Pakistani security agencies had warned the government that nine suicide bombers had entered Punjab for suicide attacks.

The latest blast was also expected to concern within the Christian community of Punjab, following several extremist attacks against Christian institutions.
