Sewing is widespread in Kyrkyzstan amid reported widespread poverty.

BISHKEK/BUDAPEST (BosNewsLife)– A young Kyrgyz girl is forced to work in a sewing workshop after being tortured by her parents in Kyrgyzstan because she converted to Christianity, well-informed investigators said Tuesday, December 18.

The troubles began when the girl “accepted Jesus [Christ]” as her Lord and Savior “during a church meeting” despite opposition towards Christians in this heavily Islamic nation, explained aid and advocacy group Open Doors.

“When her parents found out about her decision, they were very upset and took her home to their village” where she was soon mistreated, the group told BosNewsLife in a statement.

“They wanted her to recant and renounce her faith in Christ, so they began to beat her systematically till she lost consciousness.” Yet the girl, who was wrongly identified as “Almas” amid security concerns, “did not give in”, added Open Doors.

WINTER TORTURE

“It was winter when all of this happened, so her parents put her into a cold room and kept her there for several days. Still they were unable to break her spirit,” said Open Doors, which is in close contact with local believers.

“They then started pulling her hair and put her face against the stove, burning her face. In spite of this, she remained faithful,” the group claimed.

Her parents reportedly also burned all her Christian literature and decided to closely watch their daughter. “They put her to work in a sewing workshop, where she is forced to work from early in the morning till late in the evening.”

Sewing sweatshops are believed to be widespread in the country where many struggle with crippling poverty. “It has become virtually impossible for Almas to have any contact with her Christian friends,” Open Doors said.

The findings come amid reported growing pressure on minority devoted Christians in this country of some 5.5 million people, where roughly 75 percent is Muslim.

RELIGIOUS LAW

In a surprise move, President Almazbek Atambayev reportedly signed new censorship amendments to Kyrgyzstan’s Religion Law on December 7.

Rights group Forum 18 has warned that new legislation will effectively “increase state control over religious literature and other materials”, potentially impacting the printing and distribution of Bibles and other Christian publications.

The State Commission for Religious Affairs (SCRA) has denied suggestions that the law violates religious rights in the Central Asian country.

Open Doors said it had urged its supporters to pray for Almas and other “brave believers in Kyrgyzstan who continue to remain faithful, despite the persecution that they face.”

Kyrgyzstan ranks 48 on Open Doors annual World Watch List of 50 nations where it claims Christians suffer most for their faith in Christ.

  1. All Christians should rise against Islamisation. Don`t tollerate veils, halal, sharia or Muslim hollidays or anything muslim. Stand strong. Sharia is not an option! Female discrimination is not an option. Polygamy is not an option. Force marriages are not an option. The Qur`an preaches evis and shopuld be baned, such as Adolph Hitlers “Mein Kampf”! The Quràn is the source of many wars in present and past. Islam is not peacefull, islam is hate, islam is not a religion but an ideology that is deterimed to dominate the world. Ban Islam, Ban Mohammed, Stop the islamic expansion in Africa and elsewhere!

May God bless you, and us all!

  2. Thats just a fake. The situation was not ritht in that way.. A girl was involved in or one of numerous sects that has its nets on all the Kyrgyzstan. Its absolutly not islamic country. The most of people ara post-soviet atheists. Some r religiouls but not too much and there r some radicals and preachers from Aghnistan. And i dont think her parents treat her too much. They just wanted too take her from thr paws of the sect. Thats too difficult. May be its the sect which cover her destructive ideology by the name of Christ that they do very often… But no one can call this people christians. They just have ties and strong connections with such “christian” sects and thier media all over the world…

  3. Dear Olegvladi,

Just a few questions. How do you know she was involved in “one or more numerous sects?”. Were you involved in torturing the girl or do you know her otherwise personally? Also: which ‘sects’ are you talking about? You speak about “destructive ideology”. What do you mean with that, the faith in Jesus Christ? Do you prefer the atheistic ideology?
Also: “no one can call this people Christians” you say. Why not? And your: “They just have ties and strong connections with such “christian” sects and thier media all over the world…” Could you clarify this? Which sects, which media? You sound more like an angry anti-Christian official.

    Best regards,

  4. Please stop beating the Kyrgyz girl. She is a human being not an animal. She is God’s loving creation. Jesus died for her and for your sins. She is God’s child. In the love of God I plead with you to stop hurting her. She was created with her own mind. She was created to make her own choices. She was created yp have her own will. She was not created to be your robot. Please I beg of you release this girl from her torturers. This is an inhumane act. This is a human being just as important as anyone else. She is not a dog. She is a human being. Teach her love not punishment. God is love and he also forgives for those who truely repent. He knows each of your hearts. You cannot escape God’s eyes he is watching every move you make. He is weeping as I am over this injustice. I beg you I implore you to stop treating this girl this way because she chooses differently. Please love her she is God’s creation just like you. I need you to stop this act of violence upon this girl right now. Sincerely, God’s child
